Dr Peter Hickey

MBBS (QLD), FRACGP

Peter graduated from the University of Queensland and has worked in North Queensland (Mackay, Cairns, The Cape and Torres Strait, and the Atherton Tableland). He has completed advanced training in rural general practice, and in obstetrics and gynaecology. He has a particular interest in general medicine, but also has many years’ experience in skin cancer surgery. Peter additionally works part-time for James Cook University as an educator for both medical student and general practitioners in-training. With his wife Carmel, Peter co-founded Eacham Medical Centre in Malanda in 2004.

Dr Carmel Hickey

Carmel undertook undergraduate medical studies at the University of Queensland and postgraduate training in womens health and general practice in Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands. She has experience in all aspects of general practice with an interest in womens health and palliative care.

Dr Malcolm Brown

MBBS, FRACGP, FARGP

Malcolm studied medicine at the University of Wollongong returning to the Tablelands via Canberra and Cairns hospitals. He completed his GP training in
Mareeba and Malanda at Eacham Medical Centre. After several years working in the Bamaga Hospital & Community Controlled Health Service he returned to Eacham Medical Centre. Malcolm has professional interests in rural and remote medicine, Indigenous health, and skin cancer surgery. Outside of work he enjoys the outdoors.

Dr Dorcas Heap

MBChB, MRCGP, DRCOG, DFFP

Dorcas graduated from Sheffield UK University and became a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners. She obtained her diploma of obstetrics and gynaecology and diploma of family planning in 1992. She has travelled and worked extensively in remote Australia including Bamaga and Thursday Island before establishing herself in the Atherton Tablelands, working part-time as a GP. Her interests include women's health, mental health and skin cancer surgery.

Dr Henry Maddock

MBBS

Henry graduated from University of Western Australia before moving to QLD to work in Mount Isa, Cairns and Atherton – frequently in hospital emergency departments and rural settings. He has nearly completed his Rural Generalist Training, with interest in all aspects of General Practice, particularly in palliative care and skin surgery. His passions lie in rural and remote medicine.

Dr Farhan Masud

MBBS

Farhan earned a Bachelor of Science Honours degree from the University of Guelph in Canada, majoring in biological science with a minor in nutrition and nutraceutical science. He completed his medical studies at the University of Queensland, commencing his internship at Rockhampton Base Hospital in 2017.

Following his internship, Farhan gained experience in several areas of medicine with a 2 years focus Emergency Medicine during his tenure at Redcliffe Hospital and Mater Hospital in Brisbane. He successfully passed the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) fellowship exams and is expected to complete his GP training by mid-2024.

Farhan is particularly interested in lifestyle medicine, fitness, and preventative care, reflecting his holistic approach to healthcare.
